Joint inspection team formed to clean dumping spots near Chandigarh airport
Unusual bird activity around the Chandigarh International Airport has also been posing a threat to flight safety and causing delays in operations
The Airport Advisory Committee has constituted a joint inspection team to inspect and clean all dumping and garbage hotspots near the Chandigarh International Airport from a safety point of view. It comprises officials from the Indian Air Force, Chandigarh Airport, the UT government, and the Mohali and Panchkula Municipal Corporations.
Unusual bird activity around the airport has been posing a threat to flight safety and causing delays in flight operations for some time.
In a meeting today, Chandigarh MP Manish Tewari and Anandpur Sahib MP Malvinder Singh Kang discussed with stakeholders the steps to be taken in the coming days. “The status report since the last meeting was discussed threadbare, particularly what steps have been initiated to keep the funnel areas of the airport sanitised from a dumping and sanitation point of view,” Tewari said.
The next meeting will be held to review the progress in the last one month.
