Ajay Kumar Ghanghas, Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) and Secretary, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Panchkula, today inspected various institutions with focus on ensuring the effective functioning of essential bodies and addressing the needs of vulnerable individuals.

He carried out the inspections under the guidance of SP Singh, Member Secretary, Haryana State Legal Services Authority (HALSA), and VP Sirohi, District and Sessions Judge, Panchkula.

As per the directions of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, Ghanghas visited the Drug De-Addiction Centre at Government Hospital, Sector 6. Dr Manjot explained the operations and patient care at the centre. The CJM interacted with patients. He enquired about their ongoing medications, the availability of medical care and the overall treatment process. The patients were also asked about any challenges they might be facing during their stay.

As part of the routine monthly inspection, Ghanghas visited the Child Care Institution (CCI) and Shishu Greh, Sector 15, Panchkula. The visit began with an inspection of the attendance register. He also inspected the premises, focusing on cleanliness and hygiene and checked the kitchen to verify that nutritious food was being served to the children.

The health status of each child was reviewed, and staff were directed to maintain regular medical checkups. The CJM inquired about the case of a mentally retarded girl child staying at the facility. He raised concerns as to why the child had not been transferred to the specialised Children’s Home for Mentally Retarded Children in Sirsa.

Following his directions, a telephone call was made to Mamta Goel, Chairperson of the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Panchkula, to address the issue.

She was instructed to submit all relevant correspondence related to the girl child to the DLSA office for further action.
