Kataria hands over joining letters to 78 PGT lecturers
As many as 78 newly recruited post graduate teacher (PGT) lecturers at the UT Education Department were handed over joining letters by the UT Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria. The appointments have been made after 30 years.
The event witnessed the felicitation of fine arts teachers from the Department of Schools Education, whose tableau was adjudged winner during the Republic Day celebrations. A presentation was made by the department, detailing the status of skill courses, steps taken to enhance inclusive education, infrastructure development, achievements and recently launched programmes in government senior secondary schools in Chandigarh.
The Administrator congratulated the department for carrying out the recruitment in a transparent manner and lauded it for getting these posts sanctioned. The Administrator also stressed the importance of professional development, urging the Education Department to organise training programmes, workshops and refresher courses so that teachers might embrace innovative teaching methodologies and remain updated with global educational trends.
Meanwhile, ‘Safer Internet Day’ was also celebrated with the theme of ‘Together for a Better Internet’. During the event, Ramesh Gupta, State Information Officer, NIC Chandigarh, gave a brief presentation on cyber threats and prevention of cyber frauds. During the occasion, the Administrator also launched the booklet ‘Cyber Awareness Story’.
