In view of the increasing cases of Covid-19, City schools have asked parents to keep their wards at home if they have cough and cold. Besides, schools are also making sure that students sanitise their hands frequently.

Chitkara International School has asked parents that they can send their child wearing a mask if required. “The child can be sent with a bottle of sanitiser for instant use. Parents are recommended not to send their child to school if he/she is suffering from cold or cough,” reads the advisory to parents.

Similarly, Gurukul Global School, IT Park, has asked the parents not to send their kids if they are unwell or send them with mask and gloves, if it is essential to attend the school.

Ryan International School yesterday screened and isolated students who had cough or cold. Later, the school called their parents and students were sent back home. Today, the school asked these parents not to send these kids to school for the next 14 days at least.

This is in line with an advisory by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), asking parents not to send their kids to school if the child has symptoms such as fever, cough and difficulty in breathing.

“At Chitkara, attendants are giving alcohol-based hand sanitiser to students. They are being made to sanitise hands before going to classes and every few hours,” said a parent.

The schools have also told parents to avoid handshake and encourage verbal greetings.

Trip by foreign national cancelled

Delhi Public Sschool, Mohali, has called off ‘India-Sri Lanka Children’s Friendship Club’ on the campus wherein a foreign national from Bali, Indonesia, was invited to the school. “The visit of the foreigner has been called off to prevent Covid. However, we will have the friendship tree plantation activity as planned, but it will be conducted by our own staff and children. No outsider will visit the school,” read the message from the school.
