Key accused in taxi robbery, murder plot case arrested
The police probe revealed that the gang intended to use the stolen car to execute the murder of a Paonta Sahib youth
The police arrested the alleged mastermind behind the taxi robbery and planned murder case.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime) Arvind Kamboj said Hamza, a wanted criminal carrying a reward of Rs 5,000, was apprehended by the team. The accused hails from Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, but resides in Kishanpura, Yamunanagar. He is already facing five serious cases, including attempted murder and Arms Act charges registered in Paonta Sahib.
During interrogation, Hamza revealed the name of his associate. Acting on this information, the Crime Branch arrested the gang’s weapons supplier, Jaswinder Singh, a resident of Paonta Sahib.
Both men are being questioned to trace the source and supply network of the illegal weapons.
The investigation has also uncovered that four men were involved in the November 19 early morning robbery of a Tata Nexon taxi at gunpoint under the Ramgarh bridge. A day earlier, on November 18, the accused had snatched a mobile phone in Chandigarh, which they then used to book the taxi via an app. The police probe revealed that the gang intended to use the stolen car to execute the murder of a Paonta Sahib youth named Rishabh.
