A special meeting of the Building Designers Association Kharar was held to discuss issues arising due to ban imposed on maps, NOCs and construction under the Master Plan as per the orders of the High Court (HC).

This ban has been in place for over a month, causing a complete halt to the work of architects and severely affecting their livelihood.

“No maps or NOCs are being approved, resulting in no property registrations and no construction activity on plots by the public. This has led not only to unemployment among architects, but also left labourers without work. Even maps submitted before May 22 are being returned to architects, whereas the Municipal Council should have approved them. The government is ignoring the seriousness of this situation,” said association president Sanjeev Arora.

Association vice-president Gurpreet Kaur, secretary Avtar Singh and treasurer Vijay Kumar demanded from the Punjab Government that until the new Master Plan was implemented, the approval process for maps and NOCs in colonies approved under the 2010 Master Plan should be immediately resumed. Otherwise, architects would be forced to shut down their offices, they said.
