Kharar builder gets 6-year RI in two cases

District Consumer Dispsutes Redressal Commission, Mohali, today sentenced Navjeet Singh, president of Sky Rock City Welfare Society Sector 111-112, Near Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Landran, to rigorous imprisonment (RI) for three years with a fine of Rs 1 lakh, each, in two cases under Section 72 of the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.

Singh failed to comply with the order, dated August 8, 2022, to make a payment of Rs 8.05 lakh alongwith interest at nine per cent per annum to complainant Rajinder Kumar, a resident of Sunny Enclave, Sector 125, Kharar. Navjeet, presently confined in New Jail, Nabha, had failed to give possession of a plot to the complainant.

In another case, the commission sentenced Navjeet Singh to three years RI and a fine of Rs 1 lakh for non-compliance of orders. Complainant Ravinderjit Singh, a resident of Sector 23, had stated that the builder failed to give possession of a plot to him. The commission ordered the builder to refund Rs 8.3 lakh with 9 per cent interest per annum to the complainant.
