Krishan Hooda packed off Gaurav Kumar in straight sets in the third round of the boys’ U-18 qualifiers and sealed a spot in the main draw of St Stephen’s School CLTA-AITA Super Series Tennis Tournament here today. The Haryana youngster won 6-1 6-1.

Delhi’s Sammr Raina registered a 6-3 6-3 win over Telangana’s Rajeshwar Reddy Patlolla, while Haryana’s Shashikant Rajput humbled Daksh Prasad of Madhya Pradesh 7-6(8) 6-4 in the last round of the qualifiers.

Himachal Pradesh’s Dhananjay Singh downed Vitin Rathee of Haryana 6-3 6-1 and Gurustate Singh Makkar of Punjab registered a 6-4 7-5 win over state-mate Sukhpreet Singh Jhoje. Assam’s Udday Jyoti Das made it to the main draw with a 2-6 6-2 6-1 win over Delhi’s Arjun Phogaat.

Yuvraj moves ahead

In the boys’ U-16 competition, Punjab’s Yuvraj Singh edged out state-mate Vinayak Vij 6-1 6-4 to move into the main draw.

Aarush Sharma, also from Punjab, prevailed 6-2 1-6 6-2 over Yuvraj Bhardwaj, while Chandigarh’s Lakshya Gupta trounced Yash Solanky 6-2 6-1. Chahalpreet Singh dismissed his Punjab counterpart Rattan Kabir 6-3 6-2 in the last leg of the qualifiers.

Parag Jain of Delhi ousted city lad Anirudh Sangra 7-5 6-1, while Arnav Malik beat Yashvardhan Gaur 6-2 7-6(4).
