Chandigarh, July 3

A 31-year-old labourer was found dead in an empty water tank of an under-construction building in Sector 22 here today.

The labourer, a native of Uttar Pradesh, has been identified as Dharmendra Kumar.

The police suspect that Dharmendra had consumed liquor before he fell into the five-foot-deep uncovered tank.

Dharmendra’s elder brother, who is also a labourer at the same site, spotted the body in the morning. The victim was rushed to the GMSH-16, where doctor declared him brought dead. The police have initiated inquest proceedings into the matter.
