Chandigarh, March 5
Local golfers Akshay Sharma, Aadil Bedi, Jairaj Singh Sandhu, Harendra Gupta and others will vie for the top honours during the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) Gujarat Open Golf Championship in Ahmedabad from March 6 to 9.
The event carries a prize purse of Rs 1 crore. The format for the tournament will include, first two rounds of nine holes each, followed by the cut after 18 holes. The third and fourth rounds will then comprise of 18 holes each.
The tournament will be played over a total of 54 holes. The field features 126 players including 123 professionals and three amateurs. The tournament is set to feature some of the top Indian professionals such as Manu Gandas, Rashid Khan, defending champion Aman Raj, PGTI Ranking leader Shaurya Binu, Khalin Joshi, Udayan Mane and Sachin Baisoya.
Foreigners competing will be Jamal Hossain and Badal Hossain from Bangladesh, Nepal’s Sukra Bahadur Rai and Subash Tamang, Italy’s Michele Ortolani, Czech Republic’s Stepan Danek.
“The magnificent Glade One Golf Resort & Club has emerged as an important stop on PGTI in recent years,” said Uttam Singh Mundy, CEO of PGTI.
