Mahadev Club boys, Sacred Heart girls win softball titles
The boys’ team of Mahadev Club and girls’ team of Sacred Heart School, Sector 26, won the 42nd Junior State Softball Championship, which was organised at the Sector 13 Manimajra Sports Complex.
In the boys’ final, the Mahadev Club posted a 5-0 win over Strikers Club. Hanuman Club claimed the third position by defeating Mission Sports Club 3-0. Earlier, Mahadev lads defeated Mission Sports Club 16-10, and Strikers Club posted a 1-0 win over Hanuman Club in the semifinals. Strikers Club had won their quarterfinal against the NFC 3-1, while Hanuman Club beat Chandigarh Coaching Centre 10-0. Sports Mission Club recorded a 9-6 win over Chandigarh Tigers.
Sacred Heart girls logged a 6-1 win over the NFC in the final. Mission Club posted an 8-6 win over Strikers Club to claim the third position. In semifinals, the Sector 26 outfit recorded a marginal 8-7 win over Sports Mission Club, whereas the NFC registered an identical 3-2 win over Strikers Club.
