Mahadev Club win at Senior State Softball Championship
Mahadev Club registered a 5-0 win over Mission Club on the opening day of the 42nd Senior State Softball Championship (Men & Women) at the Sector 13 Sports Complex, Mani Majra.
In other matches of the men’s category, Friends Club logged a 10-1 win over NFC, while Chandigarh Coaching Centre outplayed City Hawk Club 14-5. The Strikers’ Club also moved ahead in the event by registering a 14-11 win over Government High School, Sector 11. In the women’s category, the team of Mission Club defeated Dream Team Club 10-01.
Basketball trials on February 11
Chandigarh: The Chandigarh Basketball Association will organise trials at New Public School, Sector 18, on February 11 (4.45 pm) to pick the local U- 23 probables squad. Players born on or after January 1, 2002, and studying in Chandigarh or are permanent residents of Chandigarh will be eligible to participate in the trials. After the completion of the camp, the selected players will represent Chandigarh in the National Basketball Championship (U-23) for men and women in Guwahati from March 18 to 24.
Ashvika secures taekwondo gold
Chandigarh: Ashvika Sharma won the gold medal in the girls’ 3-7 age group (PV Category) at the two-day 10th GTA Cup Open National Taekwondo Championship organised by the Emerald Martial Arts Academy. Ameya and Harshita secured silver medals each, while Dashamveer Kaur bagged the bronze medal. In the boys’ division, Rudra, Shivay and Divyaj Singh claimed the top three positions, respectively. In the 8-11 age group, Divya and Palak secured gold medals, while Prerna Priyadarshini and Manvi won silver. Dhvani and Shreya Verma earned bronze medals. In the Poomsae Pair Category, Avni Katwal and Navish Chauhan won gold. In the group category, the team of Rayna, Arna and Samaira secured gold .
Amateur golf meet today
Chandigarh: The Amateur Golfers Society (AGS) will host its 8th Amateur Golfers Society Golf Tournament on February 9 at the Panchkula Golf Club (PGC). The event will be played in the handicap categories and golfers taking part in age groups 0-9, 10-15, and 16 & above. — TNS
