Mallakhamb centre for Chandigarh

Chandigarh, June 23
In a major boost to the city’s sports infrastructure, the Mallakhamb Federation of India, on behalf of the Chandigarh Mallakhamb Association, started its first Khelo India Centre at The British School, Sector 44, today.
Ranjan Sethi, Director, British School, inaugurated the centre and felicitated Mallakhamb performers. Rajinder Sharma, general secretary, Chandigarh Mallakhamb Association, said that the centre would cater to Mallakhamb performers of the entire region.
The association will also bid for hosting future national and international camps at this centre.
“Mallakhamb is a traditional Indian game and is played in 24 states, 26 countries are adopting Mallakhamb all over the world and in the near future, World Mallakhamb Games will be organised in the USA,” said Sethi.
Track suits were also distributed among players to mark International Olympic Day.
