Man abducts, kills infant over spat with neighbor in Pinjore

An eight-month-old boy who was reported missing in the early hours of Saturday was found murdered. The police said the child was allegedly abducted and strangled by a neighbor after a verbal spat.

The accused was arrested on Saturday and sent to six day police remand.

Investigations led to the arrest of Kalu, 25, originally from Badaun district in Uttar Pradesh. The probe olice revealed that Kalu, who lived next door, had been drinking with friends on Friday night and was rebuked by his neighbor Payal’s family for creating a disturbance. In an alleged act of revenge, he kidnapped her son and strangled him, later burying the body in a nearby forest.

The accused reportedly confessed to murdering the child during questioning. The infant’s body was recovered and sent to Civil Hospital for post-mortem examination before being handed over to the family. Kalu was produced before court and remanded to six days’ police custody.

According to the FIR lodged by Payal, she discovered her son, Lavyans, missing from their rented room in Shiv Colony around 1.30 am on Saturday. The family immediately launched a search and later reported the matter to police, who registered a case under Section 140(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at Pinjore Police Station.

Th police are also looking into the accused’s criminal background and investigating the possible involvement of others present that night.

The infant’s father, a native of Sambhal in Uttar Pradesh, was away at the time of the incident. Further investigation is underway.
