The Fast Track Special Court judge Dr Yashika has acquitted a resident of Hisar district in Haryana in a rape case registered 4 years ago after the prosecution failed to prove charges.

The police had registered the FIR on August 16, 2020, under Sections 376 of the IPC, at the Manimajra police station, Chandigarh, on the complaint of a woman.

The complainant, a resident of Haryana, told the police that she came in contact with the accused one year ago through phone. The accused assured her to provide a government job as tehsildar for which she has to arrange Rs 20 to 25 lakh. The woman alleged that one day the accused called her to Chandigarh and took her to a hotel in Industrial Area, where he made physical relations with her forcibly. She called the police and filed a complaint against the accused.

Gagan Aggarwal, counsel for the accused, argued that he was falsely implicated in the case. He said the woman had refused to undergo a medical examination. There were many contradictions in the statements of the complainant. She did not fill any form for the government job and was also not qualified for the post of tehsildar, which the accused had allegedly promised her.

However, the public prosecutor said the prosecution had proved the case beyond a shadow of doubt. After hearing of the arguments the court acquitted the accused of the charges framed against him.
