A Special Fast-Track Court Judge has acquitted a person in a rape case registered a year ago after the prosecution failed to prove charges. The police had registered an FIR on February 4, 2023, under Sections 376 (2) N and 506 of the IPC on the complaint of a woman.
The complainant told the police that she came in contact with accused Suresh five years ago while both of them were working in same bank. The accused made physical relations with her on the promise of marriage, she alleged. She further alleged that the accused refused to marry after she became pregnant.
Jasbir Dadwal, counsel for the accused, argued that the accused was falsely implicated in the case. He said the woman had also refused to undergo a medical examination. There were contradiction in the statements of the victim, he added.
However, the Public Prosecutor said the case had been proved beyond a shadow of doubt. After hearing of the arguments the court acquitted the accused of the charges framed against him.
