The police had registered the case under Sections 376 (3) of the IPC and 6 of the POCSO Act at the Sector 34 police station on a complaint filed by the victim.
She told the police that the accused, who happened to be her cousin, had developed sexual relationship with her. She went to the hospital along with her mother as she was suffering from frequent vomiting. At the hospital, she came to know that she was nine weeks pregnant. During the course of investigation, the accused was arrested.
The counsel of the accused claimed that he was falsely implicated in the case. The Public Prosecutor claimed that the prosecution had proved the case. After hearing the arguments, the court sentenced the accused to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment.
