Renu, the child’s mother, has reported that she had been living with her third husband, Anil Kumar, in Taparia village for about a year. Originally from Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, she had previously been married to Neeraj and divorced him due to his addiction to alcohol. She later remarried Umesh, who passed away in an accident.

The couple had been facing marital issues due to excessive alcohol consumption by Anil.

Renu said, “On the evening of January 3, Anil consumed alcohol and started beating both me and the girls, Aarti and Sapna. After the fight, Aarti and I went to fetch milk from a nearby vendor, leaving Anil and Sapna asleep at home. When I returned and tried to wake up Sapna to feed her, I found she was unresponsive. When I asked Anil about what had happened to her, he fled the house.”

Fearing further violence, Renu bolted the door from inside and did not inform anyone about the incident that night. The next morning, she informed her brother-in-law, Shiv Kailash, about the incident. Kailash checked Sapna and confirmed that she was dead. The matter was reported to the police.
