Mohali, November 7

A 67-year-old resident of VIP Enclave died today. Family members said the victim was suffering from dengue.

Health officials, however, did not confirm that the death was due to dengue. The Mohali Civil Surgeon, Dr Adarshpal Kaur, said, “We do not have information in this regard. The daily official update is till 4 pm.”

The deceased, Raj Kumar, was a resident of a housing society in ward number 21. The victim was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Zirakpur.

As of Sunday, 12 dengue patients were admitted to the community health centre in Dhakoli, of whom five were discharged while seven are still undergoing treatment. Besides, several patients are undergoing treatment at private hospitals In Zirakpur.

VIP Enclave residents GS Bhatti and Haridesh Srivastava alleged that the colony did not have adequate sewer and drainage facilities. “As a result, there is stagnant water in several places in the colony where mosquitoes are breeding. There is an urgent need for fogging by the Municipal Council here,” they said. — TNS
