A 26-year-old man reportedly committed suicide by hanging himself at his house Sector 38 last night.

The victim has been identified as Shubham, who was an employee of the Health Department.

The police said they received information at the control room that a man had locked himself in his room. The police reached the spot and found that the victim had already been rushed to Government Multi-Specialty Hospital, Sector 16. The police visited the hospital, where doctors stated that the victim was declared brought dead. The victim was living in the house along with his family, including wife, an eight-month-old son, mother and a sister.

The police have initiated inquest proceedings into the matter at the Sector 39 polices station.
