Man gets 12-yr imprisonment for carrying banned injections

What happened
According to the prosecution, on July 19, 2017, the accused was arrested by a team of policemen from the Sector 39 police station during checking. The policemen, who were on patrolling near the road separating Sector 38-A and B, saw the accused coming from the opposite side with a carry bag. On seeing the police, the accused turned back and started moving quickly. On getting suspicious of his activity, the accused was nabbed. During checking, 50 intoxicant injections of Buprenorphine (2 ml each) and 50 injections of Pheniramine (10 ml each) were recovered from his possession.

Ashok Kumar (37) has to stay behind bars for more than a decade for carrying 100 intoxicating injections in 2017.
The court of Additional District and Sessions judge Sanjeev Joshi awarded 12-year imprisonment to Ashok Kumar, a resident of Sector 38-A, Chandigarh, under Section 22 of the NDPS Act and also imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on him.
According to the prosecution, on July 19, 2017, the accused was arrested by a team of policemen from the Sector 39 police station during checking. The policemen, who were on patrolling near the road separating Sector 38-A and B, saw the accused coming from the opposite side with a white-coloured carry bag. On seeing the police, the accused turned back and started moving quickly. On getting suspicious of his activity, the accused was nabbed. He disclosed his name as Ashok Kumar. During checking, 50 intoxicant injections of Buprenorphine (2 ml each) and 50 injections of Pheniramine (10 ml each) were recovered from his possession.
However, he could not produce any licence or permit to carry the injections. The accused was arrested and a case under Section 22 of the NDPS Act was registered against him at Sector 39 police station.
During trial, the defence counsel argued that accused was falsely implicated and the contraband had been implanted on him.
The court held the accused guilty and sentenced him to 12 years jail as the prosecution proved its case beyond a reasonable doubt.
