A local court has sentenced a 52-year-old man to 20 years of Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) in a POCSO Act and rape case registered six years ago.

The court also imposed fine of Rs 55,000.

A case under Sections 376 (2) and 506 of the IPC and Sections 4 and 6 of POCSO Act was registered at the Mani Majra police station on the complaint of a minor victim girl on February 2, 2018.

The complainant had stated that her father left her and her mother five years ago. One day the accused came to her house and called her to come at a place in Mani Majra. He made physical relations with her without consent and threatened her with dire consequences if she narrated the incident to anyone. She alleged after that the accused made physical relations with her many times.
