In the police complaint, the aunt of the teenager who hails from Uttar Pradesh, said she had come to Solan, Himachal Pradesh, with her husband, children and her 16 year old niece whose parents had passed away a few years ago.

The family was staying with the woman’s brother as she searched for work in the city.

On April 4, when they were on their way to her brother’s house, they encountered a 23 year old man from Bihar residing in the Pinjore area, who claimed to be a contractor arranging jobs. He offered them Rs 10,000 for eight hours of work and hired both her and her neice. To conceal the niece’s real age, he fraudulently recorded her as 19 on her Aadhaar card.

The woman later discovered that the man had lured her niece to his house under the pretext of offering work.

Upon reaching his home to search for her niece, she found that the teenager had already contacted the police.

The victim narrated her ordeal, saying that the accused had took her to his house after promising her a better job. He allegedly assaulted her and threatened to kill her.

After managing to escape, she contacted the police with the help of a neighbour.

Sub Inspector Pradeep Kumar of the Madhawala police post arrived with the crime scene team. A medical examination confirmed the assault, after which the victim was reunited with her family.

Assistant Sub-Inspector Harpreet Kaur is leading the investigation in the case.

"Women’s safety is our top priority. Anyone who commits a crime against a woman will not be spared under any circumstances. The law will take strict action, and the culprits will face the harshest punishment. Women have the right to live not in fear, but with dignity and their full rights,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police Himadri Kaushik.
