Man held guilty of possessing banned vials

The court of Additional District and Sessions Judge has held a local resident guilty of carrying banned injections and smack in 2017. The quantum of punishment will be pronounced on Monday.

According to the prosecution, an FIR under Sections 21 and 22 of the NDPS Act was registered against Jeewan, alias Rimpy (35), a resident of Sector 40-A, Chandigarh, at the Sector 39 police station in August 2017.

He was caught with 10.2 grams of smack and 22 banned injections – 11 injections of Buprenorphine and 11 of Pheniramine.

In the FIR, the police stated that a police team was on patrolling duty and as they reached near Government Senior Secondary School, Sector 56, they saw a man coming from the direction of a nearby petrol pump.

However, on seeing police, he turned and started walking swiftly in the opposite direction.

On suspicion, the police stopped him and recovered banned injections and smack from him.

As he could not produce any valid licence or permit, the police arrested him under the NDPS Act.
