Panchkula: A 60-year-old man has been arrested for sexually assaulting a minor girl. He was produced in a court, which remanded him in judicial custody. In a complaint to the woman police station, the victim’s mother had stated that the suspect, Dashrath, a resident of Panchkula, took her minor daughter to a park and molested her. She said the girl narrated the incident to her on returning home. The victim had also told her mother that the suspect had also threatened to eliminate her if she told about this to anyone. A case under Section 8 of the POCSO Act and Section 506 of the IPC was registered and the suspect was arrested. TNS

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
