A local court has sentenced Manjeet Singh, a resident of Punjab, to undergo 10 years of rigorous imprisonment in an NDPS case registered five years ago. The police arrested the accused on October 2, 2018, with 25 injections of buprenorphine omgesic (2 ml each) and 25 injection of pheniramine maleate (10 ml each) in Sector 45, Chandigarh.
The accused tried to run on seeing the police, but it managed to nab him along with the bag containing the banned injections. He failed to show any supporting documents for the injections. After investigation the police filed the chargesheet against the accused. The counsel of the accused denied the charges and claimed that he had been falsely implicated in the case.
After hearing the arguments the court passed the sentenced and also imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on the convict.
