Man held with firearm on Panjab University campus

The incident occurred near the Law Department around 5 pm, where rival student groups had gathered amid disputes over vote counting. Officers patrolling the area noticed a man attempting to move quickly away from the crowd upon seeing security personnel. During the search, officers recovered a locally made pistol from his possession and two live rounds.
The suspect, identified as Khushwinder Singh (30) from Patiala and currently residing in Kharar, failed to produce any authorisation for carrying a firearm. As per officials, he was former PU Student affiliated to SOPU. Police officials confirmed that Singh had previously studied at the university. A case under the Arms Act has been registered at Sector-11 Police Station.
