The Chandigarh Police have arrested a habitual offender during a night patrol in the Ram Darbar area and recovered heroin and unauthorised ‘injectable’ drugs from his possession.
The arrest took place in the early hours today near Guga Mari Mandir, 3 BRD Airport Area, when a police team from Sector 31 police station, led by Sub-Inspector Suneel Kumar, noticed a man acting suspiciously. As Vinod Kumar (31), attempted to walk away quickly on seeing the police. On searching a small black backpack he was carrying, eight vials of Buprenorphine Hydrochloride (1 ml each), eight vials of Pheniramine Maleate (2 ml each) with erased batch information, and a waxy pouch containing 2.35 gm of heroin were recovered. He failed to produce any licence or permit for possessing the drugs.
An FIR has been registered at the Police Station-31 under Sections 21 and 22 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The accused has been sent to judicial custody.
2 more held under NDPS Act
The Chandigarh Police have arrested two more persons under the NDPS Act in separate incidents on Friday. Rahul Singh (27), a resident of EWS Flat, Maloya, was arrested from near RC-1 School, Maloya, during routine checking. He was found in possession of 500 gms of ‘ganja’. A case under Section 20 of the NDPS Act has been registered.
In a separate case, 21-year-old Monu, a resident of EWS Colony, Maloya, was arrested by police from near Shiv Mandir, Maloya, around 9.30 pm. He was found carrying 500 gms of ganja, 20 gms of heroin (‘chitta’) and a knife.
