The Chandigarh Police achieved a breakthrough in their special drive against thefts with the arrest of a 22-year-old man involved in stealing vehicles. The operation was carried out by a team from Sector 49 police station, led by SHO Inspector Om Parkash. The accused was identified as Karan, a resident of Vikas Nagar, Mauli Jagran, Chandigarh.

According to the police, a case was registered on August 17 following a complaint by Manmati Devi of Ram Darbar, whose e-rickshaw was stolen from the Sabzi Mandi ground, Sector 49-C, the previous evening. During investigation, police recovered two e-rickshaws, including the complainant’s vehicle, along with a Yamaha motorcycle from Karan’s possession.

The recovered property was seized and deposited in the police station malkhana. The accused was remanded into judicial custody. Further investigation was in progress to ascertain if the accused was linked to other thefts.
