The police have nabbed a person for threatening the police officials who stopped him from stealing sand from the Pyarewala river near Raipur Rani. He has been identified as Shahnawaz, a resident of Vassalpur village, near Naraingarh, in Ambala district.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Surinder Pal Singh said that a PCR in-charge was present on duty near the Pyarewala river. When the police team tried to stop a tractor-trailer driver for questioning, he turned the vehicle towards the road. The PCR van chased it and made the driver to pull over. The vehicle was carrying sand illegally mined from the river. The driver started manhandling the police personnel. Meanwhile, another person arrived there in an SUV and threatened the police personnel that if they tried to impound the tractor-trailer, then they would lose their lives.
A case under Sections 186, 353, 341, 379, 506 and120-B, IPC, was registered at the Raipur Rani police station on a complaint filed by the PCR team in-charge.
During investigation, the police arrested the man, who threatened the police, on Wednesday. They produced the suspect before the court today which remanded him in judicial custody.
