Man ‘run over by friend’ after drunken brawl

A Preet Colony resident, Harpreet Singh, died after he was hit by a car driven by his friend on the old Kalka road today. Suspecting foul play, the victim's family have demanded an investigation. However, police officials said in the initial investigation, it appeared to be an accident but they were probing the matter.
The police said Harpreet and his brother Anil had gone to a liquor vend where their friend Saahil joined them. They had an argument after which Harpreet and his brother Anil left the place on foot. Meanwhile, Saahil followed them in his car. When they reached near the old bus stand, Harpreet was reportedly hit by Saahil's car. Passersby took the victim to the hospital where he was declared dead.

Zirakpur SHO Satinder Singh said an accident case had been registered.
