Man shot at in attack over honking, 2 held

The police arrested a man and a woman for a neighbourhood clash over honking, in which one person sustained a gunshot wound while his brother sustained injuries last evening.

The victim, Jatinder Gupta, a resident of Guru Nanak Colony, Bhankharpur, sustained a gunshot injury in the chest and was rushed to the GMCH-32 in Chandigarh after his condition deteriorated at a hospital in Dera Bassi. His brother Manish Gupta also suffered injuries in the clash.

Their mother, Pushpa Gupta stated that his sons were teaching students at home when a car stopped outside and started honking. When asked to stop, the occupants went away but returned later with five-six persons. They barged into her house and attack her sons. In the melee, Jatinder was shot in the chest. The assailants fled the scene after the attack.

Neighbours rushed both injured to a hospital.

Police officials said a case under Sections 109, 191(3) and 190 of the BNS, and 25, 27 of the Arms Act had been registered at the Dera Bassi police station.

Bhabat resident Pankaj Tiwari and Ishawati of Guru Nanak Colony, Bhankharpur, have been arrested. Sanjay, Vimal and three unidentified persons have been booked.
