A 32-year-old man was stabbed to death by five-six unidentified bike-borne youths in a brawl on the Patiala road in Zirakpur in the wee hours of Thursday.

The victim, Chandan Singh, a mobile phone shop owner and resident of Behera village, had gone with his two friends for partying when around 2 am, he had a spat with youths in Zirakpur. It led to a brawl in which the youths stabbed him thrice on the back and once on his head. His friends took him to a private hospital in their auto-rickshaw from where he was referred to the GMCH in Sector 32, Chandigarh. Doctors declared him dead around 5 am and informed his family.

Zirakpur SP Jaspinder Singh Gill said, “The police are investigating what led to the brawl. CCTV footage of the nearby areas is being scanned to identify the youths. A case has been registered against unidentified persons at the Zirakpur police station.”
