The Mani Majra police station in Chandigarh has brought accolades to the city police by securing sixth position in a nationwide annual ranking exercise conducted by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs for 2024. It has also been adjudged as the best police station in Chandigarh.
The annual ranking evaluates police stations across India based on predefined parameters and teams of the Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPRD) visit police stations to assess their performance.
The parameters include public dealing, cleanliness, investigation and disposal of cases, community policing and public satisfaction levels. “A secret report about the police station personnel is also compiled, which is considered during the ranking exercise,” said a police official. The rankings were released by the Home Minister during DGP/IGP Conference 2024. The Chandigarh Police have recently received official communication from the Centre regarding the achievement.
The Mani Majra police station, led by SHO Inspector Ram Dayal, was recognised with a Certificate of Excellence signed by the Home Minister and Home Secretary.
During the last ranking, the Sector 26 police station was adjudged best in the city and overall sixth in the country.
