The city police have arrested a 24-year-old man accused of committing an armed robbery in Manimajra.
In his complaint, Tarun, a resident of Bank Colony, stated that on August 24, his father Dharampal was carrying Rs 5,000 for household expenses when he was accosted near Angel School by a youth wielding a knife.
The assailant allegedly snatched the cash and fled.
Acting on CCTV footage analysis and secret information, a police team led by inspector Maninder Singh set up a naka near Mela Ground, Manimajra.
The accused, identified as Gaurav, alias Foji, son of Ramesh Chand and a resident of Kansal village, Mohali, with links to Kotdwar in Uttarakhand, was apprehended on Tuesday.
The accused, who works as a labourer, has a prior criminal record, including a 2020 theft case registered at IT Park police station. He was produced before the court today and remanded to judicial custody.
