Sixth seed Chandigarh’s Mannat Awasthi toppled fourth seed Punjab’s Sukhdeep Kaur to march into the girls’ U-18 semifinals of the ongoing Roots AITA CS(7) National Rankings Championships held in Zirakpur.

Mannat won the opener 6-1, but Sukhdeep maintained her supremacy in the second set by recording a 2-6 comeback win. In the final set, Mannat held her nerves to register 6-3 win band march ahead in the championship. Top seed Haryana’s Sherry Sharma easily overpowered Punjab’s Rasha Dhaliwal 6-4 6-2.

In the boys’ U-16 quarterfinals, top seed Gaurish Madan defeated Ayan Chandel 6-3 6-4, while Punjab’s Kriday Ghai ousted Harshit Tyagi 6-4 6-2. Harsh Marwaha also moved ahead by defeating Harman Singh 7-5 7-5 and Anik Chaudhary easily overpowered Mahijith Singh 6-4 6-4.

Top seed Punjab’s Arman Walia ousted Charchit Boora without conceding a single game 6-0 6-0 in the boys’ U-18 quarterfinal, while Gaurish Madan defeated Prabhsifat Singh 7-6(2) 6-2. Maharashtra’s Undre also moved ahead by recording a comeback 4-6 6-0 6-1 win over Ajay Nain. In the girls’ U-16 pre-quarterfinals, third seed Sidhak Kaur defeated Ditti Prajapat 6-4 7-6(2) and Haryana’s Aanya Tandon outplayed Punjab’s Hunar Meen 6-4 6-4.
