Mansa Devi Complex bids cylinders adieu as piped gas supply begins
Mayor Kulbhushan Goyal inaugurated the supply of Piped Natural Gas (PNG) to the flats at the Mansa Devi Complex. With the installation of PNG pipelines in several societies, residents are now receiving a steady supply of gas directly to their homes.
While launching the service in Society No 32, MDC, Sector 5, the Mayor said the initiative was expected to reduce gas expenses by over 25 per cent. Besides, households will no longer need to deal with the inconvenience of booking gas cylinders.
The Mayor also inaugurated the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) supply for vehicles at the petrol pump in Sector 16. The event was attended by councillors Suresh Verma, Jai Kaushik, Ritu Goyal, Sunit Singla, Sonia Sood, Omwati Punia, Rajkumar Jain, former councilor CB Goyal, BJP Mandal President Yuvraj Kaushik, General Secretary Amit Sharma, and former MLA Lahri Singh.
To ensure efficient supply, Indian Oil Adani Gas Private Limited, has been granted permission by the Municipal Corporation to lay the main pipelines, which will branch out to cover residential, commercial, and industrial areas.
A central supply hub will be established, and connections will be provided to consumers once the pipelines are in place.
The Mayor emphasised on the importance of following regulations while laying pipelines and urged the company to ensure proper implementation, further adding, “The initiative aligns with Panchkula’s vision of adopting cleaner, more sustainable energy solutions.”
Expansion plans
The main pipeline has been laid from Mauli Jagran to Sectors 12, 14, and Singh Dwar in the Mansa Devi Complex, extending to Suraj Cinema in Old Panchkula.
Another line, meanwhile, has been installed from Ramgarh towards Moginand, benefiting sectors across the Ghaggar River.
PNG supply is planned for sectors 6, 16, 17, 20, 24, 25, 26 and 27, along with Panchkula's industrial area.
CNG dispensing began with a machine installed in Old Panchkula and is now available at Sector 16. Soon, it will also be available at the industrial area Phase 1 pump. It is expected to benefit vehicle owners and contribute to reducing pollution in the city.
