A 42-year-old mason died when a car hit his bike on the Airport road here today.

The victim, Biru Khan of a village in Dera Bassi, was going for some work when the car hit his motorcycle. The mason fell on the road and suffered serious injuries. He was taken to the Government Medical College and Hospital in Sector 32, Chandigarh, where he succumbed to his injuries.

The car driver sped away from the spot. He was later identified as Sundar Das, a resident of Delhi, on the basis of the registration number of the car. A case has been registered against him.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
