Chandigarh, January 5
With the first rainfall of the year, the maximum temperature in the city today dropped by 5 degrees. According to officials of the Meteorological Department, the city had received 11-mm rainfall till 8.30 pm today.
The officials said the rain was likely to continue till late at night or tomorrow early morning.
They said in the past decade, the highest 65-mm rainfall in the month of January was recorded in 2017.
The department has predicted another spell of rain from the night of January 6 to January 9 due to the approaching Western disturbances.
The maximum temperature in the city was recorded at 15.2° Celsius which was 5 degrees below normal and the minimum temperature settled at 12.3° Celsius, 7 degrees above normal.
The minimum temperature on Thursday is likely to hover around 11° Celsius and the maximum is likely to be at 18° Celsius, the Met forecast said. Over the next six days, the minimum temperature is likely to range from 8 to 12° Celsius. The maximum temperature at the same time could range from 18 to 21° Celsius.
