Mayor Babla along with residents donate Rs 20 lakhs for Punjab flood relief

In a remarkable display of community solidarity, the residents of sectors 27, 28 and 29, along with Mayor Harpreet Kaur Babla, have raised Rs 20 lakhs to support flood-affected families in Punjab.

The total contribution was presented to the Indian Red Cross Society, UT Chandigarh, through Deputy Commissioner Nishant Yadav, to assist with ongoing relief and rehabilitation efforts.

During the presentation, the Mayor praised the Indian Red Cross Society for its tireless service and commitment in times of crisis. Also present at the event were Shikha Nijhawan, president, Resident Welfare Association Sector 27D, Simmi Sandhu, president, Resident Welfare Association Sector 27, Pradeep Aggarwal, president, Resident Welfare Association Sector 28A, Pawan Goel, president, Market Association 28.

The Deputy Commissioner of Chandigarh expressed his profound gratitude for the selfless contributions. He highlighted that such acts of compassion from the city's residents showcase the spirit of humanity and community. He added that these funds would be efficiently utilised to provide much-needed assistance to those displaced and affected by the floods in Punjab.

"It is our moral duty to rise above and extend a helping hand during such calamities," Mayor Babla stated. "The overwhelming response and generous contributions from the residents of Ward 10 and my family's associates reflect the true spirit of Chandigarh, where compassion and community service come first."

This significant contribution will provide crucial aid, including essential supplies, food packages and relief materials to families struggling in the wake of the recent floods.
