Chandigarh MC event promotes patriotism, cleanliness
The Municipal Corporation today organised a vibrant and inspiring ‘Har Ghar Tiranga, Har Ghar Swachhata’ programme at Sector 15, promoting the dual spirit of patriotism and cleanliness ahead of Independence Day.
Mayor Harpreet Kaur Babla attended the event as chief guest. She was joined by Sumeet Sihag, Joint Commissioner; Saurabh Joshi, area councillor; senior MC officials, safai mitras, office-bearers of Resident Welfare Associations and citizens.
The event saw enthusiastic participation from school students supported by NGOs Don Bosco Society and Onkar Charitable Foundation.
In recognition of their active involvement in the ‘Safai Apnao, Bimaari Bhagao’ campaign conducted over the past 10 days, the Mayor presented appreciation certificates to the participating students.
Their commendable efforts included ‘plogging’ drives across city parks and green belts. ‘Plogging’ refers to the activity of picking up trash while jogging.
Addressing the gathering, the Mayor urged residents to take ownership of cleanliness, beginning from their homes and emphasised waste segregation at source.
