Patiala, June 3

Misuse of the government machinery continues unabated in the city. The Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) of the Patiala Municipal Corporation was found using a vehicle hired for Covid-19 exercise to shift his household goods.

An earth mover (JCB machine) and a Tata Ace hired by the civic body were seen working outside the house of the SDO during morning hours at Gian Colony.

A tree outside the house was also uprooted with the help of an earth mover.

When contacted, the SDO of the engineering wing said, “No, I have not used any government vehicle for private purpose.”

Poonamdeep Kaur, Commissioner, MC, said, “The JCB used on the site was not ours. He hired it on his own. He used a tractor-trailer of the MC and paid Rs3,000 as fuel charges.”
