Chandigarh MC removes encroachments from Sector 17 market, southern sectors
Chandigarh, July 8
The enforcement wing of the Municipal Corporation (MC) today removed encroachments and belongings of illegal vendors, who had stored these items on MC land, from the Sector 17 market and outer areas of southern sectors.
Following directions from Municipal Commissioner KK Yadav, an enforcement team, under the supervision of Rohit Gupta, Joint Commissioner, removed the belongings of vendors, who used to leave their items at sites around the overbridge and the central Plaza area of the Sector 17 market. The drive was carried out peacefully and no untoward incident took place.
Besides, MC teams lifted seven rehris from southern sectors of the city.
Later in the evening, 26 rehris were removed from Sector 12. A total of 62 challans were issued to the violators in different parts of the city, including Sector 12, 17, 44, 47, 48, 49 and 51.
The Joint Commissioner said such drives would be carried out regularly. He said vendors were authorised to carry out their business from the allotted sites and should not encroach upon municipal land for storing their items. —TNS
