The MC failed to recarpet roads for years due to financial crunch. An internal survey found at least 60 roads in “very poor” condition. Besides, the condition of 23 roads was categorised as “poor”. The survey was carried out with an aim to prioritise the recarpeting work once the civic body received the fund.

Sources said the “very poor” tag indicated that the roads were in a pathetic condition and required urgent recarpeting. These roads have not been recarpeted for more than five years. In a majority of the cases, the roads were last recarpeted six to eight years ago.
