MDU girls steal the show on Day 3

Ramnik of Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU), Rohtak, clinched gold medal in the women’s +75kg on the third day of the All India Inter-university Qwan-ki-Do Championship at Chandigarh University, Gharuan, here today. Navjot of Punjabi University, Patiala, won the silver medal.

Earlier, in the semifinals, Ramnik beat Shikha of Chandigarh University, while Navjot got the better of Saba Taskeen of Rajiv Gandhi University, Karnataka. Both Shikha and Saba were awarded bronze medals.

In the women’s 45kg competition, Deepika Shrewat of MDU defeated Husna Siddiue of Guru Kashi University, Bathinda, to win the gold medal.

Neha Kumari of Guru Nanank Dev University, Amritsar, and Samiksha of Rajiv Gandhi University, Karnataka, got the bronze medals.

Latika, also from MDU, topped the podium in the women’s U-48kg category. She beat Ankita of Punjabi University, Patiala, in the final. Hosts’ Anjali and B Bharagavi of Osmania University, Hyderabad, won a bronze medal each.

In the men’s competition, V Sheran of RMLA University, Ayodhya, won the gold medal in the U-73kg weight category. Shiven of Guru Kashi University, Bathinda, bagged the silver, while MDU’s Vinay Rahul Yadav of Veer Bahadur Purvanchal University got a bronze medal each.

In the men’s U-88kg contest, Vishal of MDU defeated Rahul of Chandigarh University to claim the gold medal. B Jathin of Osmania University took home the bronze medal. — TNS
