Members of Fire Brigade Union stage protest, seek regular jobs

Mohali, October 23

Members of the Fire Brigade Union, Punjab, staged a protest against the state government at the Desu Majra chowk today for not regularising their services.

A heavy police force was deployed at the site after the protesters disrupted traffic in the afternoon.

The protesters said they had been scraping by on a monthly salary of Rs 9,000 to Rs 10,000. Despite repeated assurances, their services had not been regularised. “We will continue to demonstrate until our demands are met,” one of the protesters said.
