Minerva Academy emerge champs
Minerva Academy Football Club won the U-13 Sub-Junior League by registering a 2-1 victory over FC Madras in the final match.
The victory marks Minerva Academy’s third sub-junior title, solidifying their position as the most consistent and successful teams in the Indian football scene at this stage. Minerva Academy has cemented its position among the top teams in the U-13 Sub-Junior League.
The final match was a tough clash, with FC Madras having beaten all odds to reach the final. Minerva Academy, however, started the game with a positive intent and their efforts paid off early. Rimoson gave Minerva the lead in just 3 minutes, showcasing his exceptional skill and speed. Albert doubled the lead in the 11th minute, making it 2-0 and putting Minerva in a strong position.
Despite FC Madras’s valiant efforts, Minerva Academy FC’s defence held strong, and the team managed to maintain their lead throughout the game. FC Madras did manage to score a late goal, but Minerva’s sharpness and determination sealed the win at 2-1. The club remained the highest scorers of the tournament with an unbelievable 96 goals in 12 matches. The team also had three top scorers among top-10 goal scorers of the tournament with Rimoson being the highest scorer with 22 goals, while Mamesh and Gurba had 13 and 16, respectively.
Minerva Academy FC also had seven clean sheets throughout the tournament, showcasing their defensive prowess. Minerva’s dominance showed in the knockout stages as well as their road to the trophy saw them winning 3-0 in the quarterfinals, before beating the Champions of North East, F4C Academy, by a stunning 5-1 margin, and then eventually a 2-1 victory in the final.
