Verma was holding a meeting to review the performance and ongoing initiatives of Chandigarh Power Distribution Limited (CPDL) since the transition of power distribution responsibilities on February 1 this year. The meeting was attended by Prerna Puri, Secretary Engineering, CB Ojha, Chief Engineer, senior management team of the CPDL and other officials of the UT Administration.

During the meeting, the Chief Secretary raised concerns over the quality of power supply on account of unscheduled outages and delayed response across the city. He was subsequently briefed on the CPDL’s efforts that include grid infrastructure strengthening, involving maintenance at all grid substations through scheduled shutdowns.

The Chief Secretary was also apprised of the customer service initiatives, featuring a newly launched 24×7 call centre and a dedicated WhatsApp helpline for consumers.

A presentation by the CPDL management also highlighted several pressing challenges, including the aging infrastructure, with frequent equipment failures due to outdated systems.
