Mohali, January 17
A man was arrested and a minor boy was sent to a juvenile home in connection with the January 8 double murder near Chilla village, the police said on Wednesday.
Three more suspects were still at large after the arrest of Jagatpura resident Aamir alias Kaku and the minor, they said.
Manish of Unnao and Rajkamal of UP’s Hardoi — both aged around 25 years — were found dead under mysterious circumstances on railway tracks near Mohali’s Chilla village.
The police said Jagatpura residents — Saahil, Akshay, Aamir alias Kaku, Rahul and the minor — had an old enmity with the deceased. On the day of the alleged murder, they all were consuming alcohol together and had an altercation.
Manish and Rajkamal were murdered at Kaku’s house and later their bodies dumped near the village, they added.
One country-made pistol has been recovered from Kaku and one knife from the minor. Police are yet to recover other weapons and a vehicle used in the crime. A murder case has been registered at GRP station, Srihind on January 8.
