Two motorcyclists were killed in separate accidents in the city.

Pankaj (25) of Sector 25 died when he lost control of his bike on the road separating Sector 16 and 23 here on Monday morning. The victim was heading towards the Sector 16 stadium rotary when the mishap took place. He was rushed to the hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.

In the other incident, a 24-year-old youth died while his friend was injured after a tractor-trailer hit the motorcycle they were riding near Centra Mall at the Industrial Area, Phase I, late on Saturday night. Complainant Ravi Kumar, a resident of Maloya, reported that he along with his friend Arjun Singh of Jhampur, Mohali, were going to watch a movie at Elante Mall when a tractor-trailer hit their motorcycle. Arjun sustained serious injuries in the mishap and was rushed to the GMCH-32 where doctors declared him brought dead.

A case was registered at the Industrial Area police station. During investigation, the police arrested the suspect, identified as Gurtej Singh. He was later released on bail.
